Update 1/3/2023,
GAS MAIN INSTALLATION – Completed.
CURRENT ROAD CLOSURE – For the safety of our crews, this road closure will continue for approximately one more month during working hours while gas services from the homes and businesses are reconnected to the new gas main.
RECONNECTION WORK
- The reconnection work will result in a 1) small excavation near the gas meter on the house or business and 2) near the street curb in front of your home or business at the new main. The new gas main has been installed on the north side of Grover St. so most of the excavations will be on the north side of Grover St. to make these reconnections. The south side of Grover St. will also have some excavations for cables.
- The reconnection work will require a temporary, brief gas service interruption to your home or business. You will be notified prior to this interruption.
- After the reconnection is complete and gas service is restored to your home or business, a technician from M.U.D. will need to get into your home or business to relight pilots and ensure all is safe.
RESTORATION WORK
Because we are currently in cold weather, restoration work for lawns and landscaping will not occur until Spring. Any sidewalk panels that need replaced due to the project may have a temporary surface installed and will have permanent paving in Spring. Permanent concrete can only be poured when the temperature is 35 degrees and rising.
Again, we appreciate your patience as we continue to invest in your neighborhood.
Update 11/17/2022,
REGARDING THE CURRENT ROAD CLOSURE
Our construction crew has determined the current road closure in Grover Street from 52nd to 54th Streets has slowed traffic and is effective to continue their work west of the closure area. That being said, this road closure will continue through December 2022 for the remainder of the main installation and reconnection work. PLEASE NOTE: the road closure will be removed for the Thanksgiving Holiday and put back in place Monday, Nov. 28. The plan is to continue with the road closure Monday – Friday during working hours and be removed weekends.
GAS WORK TO BE COMPLETED YET
- Gas main continues to be installed west of the road closure area from 56th St. to 58th St.
- After gas main installation is completed, two or more crews will start reconnecting gas services from the homes and businesses in the project area to the new gas main.
- The reconnection work will result in a 1) small excavation near the gas meter on the house or business and 2) near the street curb in front of your home or business at the new main. The new gas main is currently being installed on the north side of Grover St. so most of the excavations will be on the north side of Grover St. to make these reconnections.
RESTORATION WORK
Because we have come upon cold temperatures, restoration work for lawns and landscaping may not occur until Spring 2023. Any sidewalk panels that need replaced due to the project may have a temporary surface installed and will have permanent paving in Spring 2023. Permanent concrete can only be poured when the temperature is 35 degrees and rising.
We appreciate your patience as we continue to invest in your neighborhood.
