Gas leaks, odor of gas, damaged lines, carbon monoxide symptoms and water main breaks are all considered emergencies.
If you smell gas, do not attempt to locate the leak. Instead, leave the house or building right away. Do not use any electrical switches, appliances, lights, telephones, or mobile devices, as an electrical charge could create a spark. When you are in a safe place, call M.U.D.'s emergency hotline at 402.554.7777 or 9-1-1.
If someone is showing symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, call 9-1-1 immediately. Symptoms are like the flu.
If you have a water-related emergency, call 402.554.7777. Our personnel are ready to assist you 24/7. When in doubt, call us immediately.

M.U.D. Receives Greater Omaha Chamber Business in Excellence Award
Each year, the Greater Omaha Chamber (GOC) awards local businesses with the Business Excellence Award for their performance across five pillars. They celebrate leadership, innovation, philanthropy, sustained excellence and milestones. Just 18 companies won this award for their trailblazing impression on our community.
Metropolitan Utilities District was awarded the 2024 Business Excellence Award for its philanthropy efforts. The District proves its pride in serving our community through volunteer efforts and raising money to assist the needs of customers. Employees have committed 354 hours and donated more than $738,000 to those in need in our communities since 2022.
At the June 13 award ceremony, GOC President and CEO Health Mello stated, “With exceptional companies like these in our community, Omaha is well positioned for continued growth and prosperity.”
Sue Lobsiger, senior vice president and chief information officer, said, “On behalf of the District, we would like to thank the chamber for this award, which would not have been possible without the dedication of our more than 900 employees who give back to the community they proudly serve.”
