M.U.D. is officially embarking on the construction of its next facility. Leaders met Wednesday, October 25 to break ground on the District’s second Construction Center, just north of Interstate 680 near Potter Street and Blair High Road.
“Countless hours have been spent coordinating, surveying and speaking with our employees, and we are thrilled to have this opportunity to grow and provide a new space for our highly skilled employees to work and thrive for generations to come,” said M.U.D. President Mark Doyle. After years of discussions and planning, this groundbreaking signals the District’s dedication to the community. “Metropolitan Utilities District will always be committed to providing safe, reliable natural gas and water services for our customer-owners,” said Doyle.
Administrative staff, gas crews, water crews and construction personnel will all call this new complex home. M.U.D. Board of Director Chairperson Tanya Cook said, “I am so thankful these employees are all working for our community. On behalf of the board, I am excited to see this new Construction Center take shape and I am confident the leadership of M.U.D. will ensure the project is completed in a responsible way for our customer-owners.”
Project managers anticipate the new Construction Center will be complete by the end of 2025 or early 2026. M.U.D. continues to operate out of its current Construction Center near 63rd and Grover. That facility will also undergo renovations in the coming years and will continue to serve the community, with increased continuity for day-to-day operations across the Omaha metro.
