WHAT IS AN EMERGENCY?
Gas leaks, odor of gas, damaged lines, carbon monoxide symptoms and water main breaks are all considered emergencies.
If you smell gas, do not attempt to locate the leak. Instead, leave the house or building right away. Do not use any electrical switches, appliances, lights, telephones, or mobile devices, as an electrical charge could create a spark. When you are in a safe place, call M.U.D.'s emergency hotline at 402.554.7777 or 9-1-1.
If someone is showing symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, call 9-1-1 immediately. Symptoms are like the flu.

Las fugas de gas, el olor a gas, las tuberías de gas dañadas, los síntomas de monóxido de carbono y roturas en las tuberías principales de agua son consideradas emergencias.

UTILITY ASSISTANCE Former M.U.D. Board Member Jack Frost Leaves Legacy of Customer-Focused Service
Metropolitan Utilities District’s board of directors and employees are recognizing the legacy of former board member Jack Frost, 91, who passed away October 20.
Frost served 36 years on the board and retired in 2022 after completing his sixth term. He won his first election to the board in 1986 and was re-elected in 1992, 1998, 2004, 2010 and 2016. Frost represented Subdivision 7 and served as board chairperson several times, including his final year on the board.
He was a second generation M.U.D. board member. His father, Frank Frost, served 42 years on the board until 1983. Jack was proud to say that there had been a Frost on the board for more than half the years the District has been in existence.
Over the last four decades, Jack Frost’s expertise in the fields of real estate and business contributed greatly to the smooth operation of the District.
“Jack’s knowledge of issues affecting the District was impressive, as was his commitment to our customers who rely upon the life-essential services we provide,” said M.U.D. President Mark Doyle. “During his tenure, he was supportive of major improvements, including the addition of the Platte West Water Production Facility, upgrades to our other water plants and the Liquefied Natural Gas facility, as well as the infrastructure replacement program to update hundreds of miles of gas and water mains.”
Frost earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Omaha University. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1957 and in the reserves until 1971. Frost was a pilot of C124 planes, reaching the rank of captain.
He had more than 30 years in the real estate industry and was an independent agent before he retired. Frost served on the Omaha Board of Realtors including past chair of the governmental affairs committee. He also served in leadership roles for the Men’s Symphony Council, Dundee Kiwanis, Tangier Chanters Choral Group and his church. He was active in community theater and received acting awards from the Omaha Community Playhouse and Metropolitan Actors Guild.
His family plans to hold a memorial service on Wednesday, November 1, 10 a.m., at the Second Unitarian Church, 3012 S. 119th St.
